I have a dog whose name is Mouse. Well, it wouldn’t be exactly right to say that I have the dog because my little seven year old baby girl has practically adopted him. She gave him the name Mouse. Now, don’t be fooled when you hear the name. He is a Neapolitan Mastiff and weighs a little over 150 whooping pounds. The reason his name is mouse is he is uncharacteristically quiet for a Neapolitan Mastiff. He hardly barks, only makes low rumbling growls from deep in his stomach that sound like the whirring of helicopter blades. Laura (that’s my baby) loves going everywhere with him. They make an incongruous pair.
The really huge dog and the little girl. He is very friendly and easy going and I can count on him to look out for Laura. The one thing about him I don’t like is, he sheds his fur, like a lot. It’s not like he’s got a lot of fur to begin with. But you can always see mahogany-coloured hair dropping everywhere. And did I mention? He drools. Also like, a lot. Which makes it a problem. See, the interior of my car isn’t leather. So dusting Mouse hair and cleaning Mouse drool off the interior of my Honda Civic is a lot of work. And after a while, my car starts getting this really annoying wet dog smell.
Laura won’t go anywhere without Mouse and I’m loathe to take Mouse in my car. So I had to find a way to cope with both. I put up with it for a while, but there comes a time when you’ve just had enough, you know. My next door neighbour advised me to consider buying a dog car seat cover. After visiting lots of websites for a lot of reviews and buying guides, I eventually came across this one. And boy, does it work! After spreading it on my car upholstery, I’m more confident about taking Laura and Mouse out to the mall or to the park.
My car seats are safe from Mouse drool and Mouse hair. And I don’t have to pick up hair everywhere in my car anymore. I still get a whiff of the old wet doggy smell once in a while, but for now, I’m good. Hopefully, I’ll come across a product that will help me completely get rid of the stale smell in my car (car fresheners didn’t work), but for now, this car seat cover for dogs has got me covered.
